Introduction
This is the User Guide for PES Stadium Studio 2010. Please, read carefully this manual, in order to
make sure you have total awareness of the capabilities and functionality of the program.
Basic Concept
The basic concept of stadiums is pretty simple: you need to insert your model to Blender and split
the stadium in to parts. Then, export the full model as a SEF 2008 file which you can open from PES
Stadium Studio 2010 (from now on referred as PSS 2010) and export 3 BINs:
•
Stadium BIN: Containing the basic 3D structure
•
Parameters BIN: Containing crowd and maybe other parameters
•
Textures BIN: Containing the textures of the stadium
Installing Scripts
You will need to install Blender and the appropriate scripts. Please download Blender 2.4x from the
official site (check the link before) and install the scripts found on the scripts folder of the tool's
directory to C:\Program Files\Blender\.blender\scripts\ folder to your Blender's installation
directory.
Using the Application
The main application window has 3 main parts: Meshes list on the left side, Textures on the bottom
and the 3D preview on the right side of the window.
To start using the application you need to already have a SEF 2008 file exported from Blender.
Opening a stadium file
Select File->Open .sef from the top menu to open the stadium file (.sef). After loading is done, you
should see the list of all meshes and objects on the left tree-view, the textures (with some preview)
on the bottom and the 3D preview on the right side. Check that everything is working correctly on
the 3D preview by moving around the stadium. To rotate around, left-click and move your mouse
around the preview window. To pan, right-click and move your mouse around (same way as in
rotation). To zoom-in/out use your mouse scroll wheel (scroll-up to zoom-in, down to zoom-out).
If you see your stadium or part of it being on white color (no texture) that means you should have a
texture problem. Check on the texture's box on the bottom to see if everything is fine with the
textures (if there are textures missing, you should see white image with red text “Image not found”
on it). That should mean you maybe have wrong image declarations on blender, while you exported
the .sef (maybe you moved the images to another folder, or you maybe you are using the stadium
file on another computer where images' path is not the same as in the computer where .sef was
exported). Please, correct that kind of problems on blender and start the process again.
Managing Parts/Objects
You can do some basic Parts/Objects management operations through the Meshes box on the left.
By click on a Part and pressing F2 you may rename the part. You can also move objects around by
simple drag-n-drop functionality: moving an object on top of another in the same part will swap
their order (that is important for fixing issues with transparent parts, sometimes), or moving it on
another part will simply add it to that place.
Importing 3DS files (Experimental)
PES Stadium Studio 2010 implements one of the most anticipated features for long time: direct 3DS
support. You may notice, thought, that Blender and SEF 2008 is still the main way to import
stadiums (otherwise you won't be able to import crowd and you may also experience upredictable
issues with your stadium). USE 3DS AT YOUR OWN RISK AND DON'T EXPECT IT TO WORK 100% IN
EVERY CASE.
In order to import a 3DS file you should already open a stadium file (SEF 2008). Then, select Import>
3DS File... from the top menu and select the 3ds file to import. The tool will look for existing
textures on the textures' list and if not, it will create new ones trying to load the images from the
same folder as the .3ds file you just loaded.
IMPORTANT: After you import the 3DS a new part will be created with the name “3DS_MESH”.
Please, rename to a correct Part name.
Exporting the final BINs
If everything is fine with model and textures, it's time you export the stadium. Each stadium in PES
2010 needs at least 3 BIN files to work:
•
Stadium BIN: Is the one containing the actual 3D structure of the stadium.
•
Textures BIN: Textures in PES 2010 are more tricky than other years. You may export all
images in one .bin file, but you may also split textures in more BINs (like KONAMI does) for
each stadium version.
•
Parameters BIN: For now, that actually means just crowd, but maybe there will be more
thing implemented in the future (like scoreboards etc.). You only need to export this once
for every stadium and place it on dt07.img file in slots 2122-2144 respectively to the slot you
exported the stadium bim (e.g. a stadium bin on 2099 will be aside of a parameter bin on
2122).
In order to create those BINs just select the respective selection on File menu on the top of the
application.
Export textures manually
Regarding textures you may want to split images on more that one BIN, like KONAMI does. This is
also the case when the tool can't find some image file and you don't know how to fix it (when you go
at File->Export textures BIN and see the message about missing textures).
Your alternative in this case is to export the textures from the texture box on the bottom. Select
one or more textures per time and right-click->Export selected... . Then, just pick a name for the
new bin and that will create a texture bin with the selected-only images.
Stadium files
Different Versions
There are 6 different versions for each stadium, concerning time of day and weather: Day/Fine,
Day/Rain, Evening/Fine, Evening/Rain, Night/Fine, Night/Rain. KONAMI chose a strange way to split
and distribute stadium files around dt07.img this year.
Model files
Model files are those exported by the Export stadium .BIN option. Those BIN files are in position
1614-1728 for version specific parts and 2099-2122 for global parts of each stadium.
That means that each stadium has 5 version-specific bins between 1614-1728 (NOTICE: Day/Rain
and Evening/Rain share the same stadium bin) and once global bin for all versions between 20992122.
You may see the files for each stadium on the list at the end of this guide.
Texture files
Same as in model files, there are version-specific and global textures. It is strongly advised to use
only some of the texture files on dt07 (check the list on the end of the guide for a list).
WARNING: Even if you only use some of the original texture files of a stadium (for instance
unnamed_293.bin for San Siro Day/Fine) it is recommended that you use overwrite the rest of the
texture .bins with empty ones (32KB size) (e.g. 294-302 for San Siro Day/Fine case).
Common Questions/Issues
Can I use the same SEF file as I did for PES 2008 and 2009?
Yes. Most SEFs used on PSS 2008 and all made for PSS 2009 should work just fine for PSS 2010 too. If
not, you should be able to identify any problems from the list or the 3D Preview. WARNING: It is
important to remember that PSS 2010 won't import the field for you, thus you need to import it
yourself. You can even use a 3DS file in PSS 2010 for that, or you can create a new SEF (based on the
old one) with a field.
The 3D model in preview is all white. What is the problem?
If 3D model is all white without textures, that probably means that textures couldn't be loaded.
Most probably this is because the texture files where not declared correctly on the SEF file (you
should see this on the texture list too). Try to recreate the SEF from Blender and make sure the
texture paths are ABSOLUTE and CORRECT.
When exporting textures I get a message about missing textures.
This is most probably linked to the previous problem. One or more textures may not exist on the
path that was declared on the SEF. This is a common case in 3DS import too. Try to export the
textures manually from the texture box, by selecting the correct textures from the list (if any) and
right-click->Export selected... .
I can't see crowd in the application. What's wrong with it?
There is nothing wrong with crowd. Crowd is not showing in the Meshes list or 3D Preview. That's a
small issue for now. But as long as you made crowd correctly on Blender, it will still export on the
Parameters BIN.
There are parts that I see on 3D Preview but I can't see in-game.
This is an issues for transparent parts, sometimes. When you use multiple transparent parts that are
overlapping you should define them on the correct order in object's list. That means that the far
object (the one behind) should be in higher position than the near one (the one in front). E.g., if
you get this problem for Object_1 and Object_5 for some part, that means that Object_5 is behind
Object_1, thus you need to swap them (drag Object_5 over Object_1 and drop it) to work correctly.
I imported my stadium, it seems to be working but I also see some parts of
the original KONAMI stadium in-game.
It's been already explained that some stadiums are split in 2 bins, one for global and one for
weather specific meshes. In this case, if you don't create a bin for the weather-specific model .bin,
you should “overwrite” the original bins with an empty bin (you can find an “empty” .bin under
C:\Program Files\\PES Stadium Studio 2010\files folder. For example, if you want to
place your stadium over KONAMI STADIUM, place your stadium .bin over unnamed_2108.bin and if
you don't create weather specific models, copy-paste-rename the empty.bin to unnamed_1659.bin
(same for 1660, 1661, 1662, 1663). Check the File lists for actual bins of each stadium.
