    Fight SOPA and PIPA !

    Hello dear PESEdit users,
We are all concerned by the american bills, SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (PROTECT IP Act) ,
even if you are not american, it will affect you, because most of the websites are based in the US, and a lot of the stuff you see is from US, sites like YouTube, Wikipedia, Facebook and many websites can be censored , don't take this as a joke,it is very serious, and especially to us editors, since we do use branded content, our patch and website could be taken down, we can all join, google for SOPA and PIPA if you don't understand, and join the various strikes, if you are american you should write to your senator to stand up to the bill.

Fight SOPA and PIPA, stand up for your freedom of expression, and your freedom to remain anonymous !

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the PIPA (Protect IP Act) are two vaguely worded bills that are attempting to stop online piracy. However, in the process of doing so, they are censoring the internet. The government would be given the power to censor domain names. Major websites like facebook, YouTube/Google, Wikipedia would be affected because even them linking to a page with copyrighted material would be against the law. This would force the websites to do unrealistic amount of self-censorship which they will not be able to keep up with and shut down. There are workarounds, but the traffic of major websites would be significantly reduced. This bill can also directly affect you too. If you post, let's say, a video of you dancing and by chance the TV in the background shows Spiderman, you become a felon. There you go, just because Spiderman was shooting webs in the background, you become a felon. There goes your right to vote (in most states) and all future job opportunities.

It is also generally believed that by censoring our own people, we affect the rest of the world because a lot of the internet's infrastructural runs through America. In addition, the bills will severely impact the stability and security of the existing remains of what we know as the internet. If not, then we will lead by example and inevitably others will follow. So if you're not American, you should be angry as well.

The problem is that the bill will NOT stop piracy and breaks your first amendment right. That is not debatable. If you can become a criminal for what you say, that isn't free speech. I strongly urge you to contact your representatives and senators. Also, call your state's filming agency. Yes, piracy is a problem, but it shouldn't be resolved at the cost of your freedom.
