here is a tutorial by BUBE

1. Make sure your image size is 256x256.
2. Save your image as a png file.
3. Open the bin.file unnamed_2113.bin (in dt0f.img of your kitserver) or unnamed_5756.bin (in dt0c.img of your kitserver) using Game Graphic Studio. Here you will find all the boot previews.
4. Drag and drop the image you want to add on to the opened Game Graphic Studio window.
5. Find the image you want to replace.
6. Drag and drop to that image. (note that the images must be the same size 256x256)
7. Repeat these steps if you want to replace other boot previews.
8. Done
